You may be thinking, there are so many styles to choose from, where do I begin?
Soiree is here to help you through the process. The major differences in styles are the following…
|
|
Color:
While the most popular color tuxedo is a solid black, tuxes come in other colors and pinstripes. Selecting a color is the easiest way to begin narrowing your choices.

Lapel Styles:
There are three traditional styles that have been modified slightly to create different looks.
Shawl (A smooth, rounded edge lapel.)
Notch (A triangular indentation is cut where the lapel joins the collar.)
Peak (A broad V-shaped lapel that points up and out just below the collar line.)

|
Number of Buttons:
This varies from 1 button to 5 buttons. Keep in mind the more buttons you have the less you see of the vest and tie.
|
|
Pocket Styles:
Usually the pocket is a flat pocket or it has a flap over it. It may be stylized with a different fabric or trim as well.
|
|
Tuxedo vs. Suit:
Most tuxedos have an accent on the collar and/or lapel of the coat adding to the formal look. The trousers usually have an accent stripe down the outside of the leg. The accent is usually done with a satin. Tuxedos are more formal than suits.

Shirt Color Selection:
Unless you plan to go with a shirt color like black or brown, shirts should match the bridal gown color, for example if the brides gown Ivory, the men’s shirts should also be ivory.
